Identical Times for Wakelings
26.10.08
Almost perfect conditions for the second week in a row greeted the cyclists on Friday night with the warm, calm night leading to most riders posting faster times in the flying 200 metre sprint this week.
Junior A Grade riders Liza and Charlotte Wakeling as well as being identical sisters, posted identical times (16.33 seconds) in this event.

Brothers Pierce and Jai Sutton were joined by Dylan Starkey to race in Senior B Grade, with some fierce competition between the three riders each finishing the night on 15 points in the McLeods Point series.
These three riders are similar in ability so we will see some interesting races and no doubt close finishes over the season in this grade especially as their fitness improves.

Peter Werner, in his first night for the season, was in form which led to him posting good results and throwing down the challenge to Adrian Wilson and Gary Carpenter and will be one to watch over the coming weeks.
G Carpenter's strength is the handicap races and once wound up he is hard to beat where as Wilson does better in the longer races. There were some extremely close finishes in the Senior A Grade between Darren Anderson and Rhyse Carpenter with Anderson's wheel just in front as they crossed the line in the 12 lap elimination and the 20 lap scratch race. Paul Berkett won the first race of the evening, a 15 lap scratch race, after trying to take the others by surprise by coming around the outside to take the lead as they got the last lap bell.

R Carpenter was ready for him and was able to go with him but Berkett held him off to be first across the line ahead of R Carpenter, Ryan Ware, Anderson and Nicole Goldring.

In the Junior A Grade C Wakeling led Dylan Fewster, Jessica Shore, Sam Campbell and L Wakeling into the final lap of the eight lap scratch race and managed to pull away from them.  Fewster slowly reeled her in to be almost on her hip as they came around the last bend and although C Wakeling tried to hold him off he took the lead as they came down the straight to the line to take out the event from C Wakeling, Campbell, L Wakeling and Shore.

Tegan Wood took off on the bell in the Junior B Grade four lap scratch race creating a break to Dana Prater who slowly reeled her in but not before the finish with Wood crossing the line 10 metres ahead of Prater.  Novice riders enjoyed a series of one lap handicaps with Liam and Marco Matacin-O'Neill, Chloe Hellowell, and Scott Litchfield sharing the placings.

Scott finished the evening off with a one lap timed sprint completing the lap in 50.36 seconds.
