Cyclists Brave Cold Conditions

Pirie Tour of the North was held on Saturday under very cold and
drizzly conditions. Local junior riders Sam Campbell, Jai
Sutton, Tim Fulton and Nicole Goldring joined 11 other riders from
around the State for a 45km handicap.
It was Goldring's day and she rode well taking out first position,
Sutton finished fourth, Campbell ninth and Fulton further down the
field putting in a great effort after a week off the bike due to
sickness.
Rhyse Carpenter, Ryan Ware, Paul Berkett, Will Symons, Neil
Patterson, Malcolm Clasohm, Steve Brown, Adrian Wilson, Bob Monaghan
and Hayden Gill helped to make up the field of 40 senior riders for
a 90km handicap. Clasohm was in fine form crossing the line
with the sprint bunch of about 15 riders to finish in third
position. Carpenter pulled out at the 50km mark with a
puncture and Berkett also pulled out at the 55km mark with an
injury.
